Checking In and Retreating

Checking In and Retreating

As you heard in Episode 045: Back to School Blues, we’re having a rough start to the school year at our house!  We’re coming off a weekend full of illness, and I’m not going to be able to record a new episode this week.

Going forward, I’ll release new episodes every other Wednesday beginning next Wednesday, September 11th.

Next week, I’ll share a great conversation I had with Kathryn Whitaker about her new book, Live Big, Love Bigger.  I hope you have a chance to get your hands on a copy between now and next week!

Please keep me in your prayers as I go on a silent retreat this week.  It is much needed!

045 Back to School Blues

045 Back to School Blues

This week, I talked about our house’s back to school blues.  As much as we love our parish school and teachers, we are struggling (as we always do) with the adjustment.  I shared what the struggle is looking like and what Philip and I are doing on the parenting side to make things a little less painful.

Revisiting last week’s episode: Did you write a letter to anyone?  If not, what’s stopping you?

Listener question:  Do you and your husband think my daughter might be going through precocious puberty?

042 Summer Camp

042 Summer Camp

This week, I talked about the joys of SUMMER CAMP–as a camper, counselor, and a mother!

Before that, I circled back to last week’s episode, 041: Puberty Q&A With Jane.  The Diocese of Lincoln has a fantastic website with a few videos and a bibliography with recommended resources for parents on discussing the gift our our sexuality and fertility with our children.

Episode 034 Summer Structure (where I talked about our summer jobs list and Saint Coin reward system for earning screen time)

Did YOU go to summer camp as a kiddo?  Was it a traditional summer camp like this one, or was it a specialized camp?  What about your kids? Do they go to any camps? If they don’t, I hope my episode about why camp is awesome encouraged you to at least consider summer camp as an option for next year.
