046 Live Big, Love Bigger with Kathryn Whitaker

This week, I’m finally releasing a great conversation with Kathryn Whitaker!  I asked Kathryn come on the show to talk about her new book, Live Big, Love Bigger: Getting Real with BBQ, Sweet Tea, and a Whole Lotta Jesus.  We had a great conversation about how how to live a “hell yes” kinda life centered on Christ.  I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed chatting with her!

Our talking points:

  • Acute stress of NICU life sending a good marriage to counseling
  • The grace of God giving you more than you can handle
  • The blessing of authentic friendship through social media during times of crisis
  • Finding a good marriage counselor
  • The Whitaker family’s 6-month moratorium on activities
  • Learning to have an identity outside of doing
  • Family discernment of commitments
  • Letting kids fail
  • Connecting with kids individually
  • Owning your mama strengths instead of comparing and living in mama guilt
  • Mom prayer life.  Make it about intention, not time
  • Why bringing up the gifts is one of the most beautiful parts of the Mass

Do you struggle with living a hell yes kind of life?  Has God given you more than you can handle and blessed you in the process?  How has your family navigated your calendar commitments and not getting overextended? Did you feel as much relief as I did when Kathryn talked about her approach to connecting with her kids individually or her prayer life?  What’s working for you in those areas?
